ABOUT US

The Cambridge Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on April 18, 1952 as Delta Pi Sigma at Maryland State College (now UMES). The chapter was charged to work with vim, vigor, and vitality to provide community service on the Eastern Shore of MD. The counties currently served are Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester. Cambridge Alumnae, having served the Eastern Shore of Maryland for nearly seven decades, continues to operate and move with the vision created by the twenty-two undergraduate women who founded Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. on January 13, 1913 at Howard University. Collectively, our Founders made an immediate impact on their communities by focusing on academic excellence and serving those in need.

Welcome to the official website of Cambridge Alumnae Chapter (CAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  We bring you greetings from the beautiful and peaceful Eastern Shore.  The Eastern Shore is a part of the U.S. state of Maryland that lies mostly on the east side of the Chesapeake Bay.  It is also the home and birthplace of our own native son, Frederick Douglass, and “Moses of her people,” Harriet Tubman. CAC is engrained in the immense history of the Chesapeake Bay regions.

Cambridge Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has served our local communities for over 72 years.  Through our Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service, and Social Action, CAC has served their communities well.  Deltas continues to carry the legacy of our founders in creating a system of advocacy and Change.

CAC’s theme for the next biennial is”  CAC:  A Sisterhood Called to Serve… Activating Change and Mobilizing Our Communities.”  Never was a time such as this to fight for basic human rights and to help our local communities and global causes.  The needs locally and globally are substantial; therefore, Delta's efforts should be equally great to help those that are in need.  The one way that we can all empower one another and our communities is to exercise our civic duty and VOTE in our local, state, and national elections.  We can ALL make a difference!

Our service projects, programs, and initiatives are in direct alignment with our Grand Chapter’s vision and mission.  CAC strives to offer impactful programs and initiatives to all of our local service areas.  CAC sorors are dedicated to service for the betterment of our communities.  We seek to align our programs and initiatives with DST, Inc. National Strategic Plan and to carry out the Five-Point Programmatic Thrust which includes the following areas:

  1. Economic Development

  2. Educational Development

  3. International Awareness and Involvement

  4. Political Awareness and Involvement, and

  5. Physical and Mental Health

Thanks for visiting our website. Please feel free to contact us via our chapter email (cambridgealumnae@gmail.com) if you have any questions or concerns.
